Harmattan Skincare Tips You Should Know

Hey guys, welcome back to my Blog..
So it's harmattan season and when you hear of harmattan the first thing that comes to your mind is dry skin. Yes, this is caused by the dusty and dry wind. Asides dry skin there's also nasal dysfunctions.

So what do we do when this season is upon us? We have to protect our skin.

I've got some life saving tips for you guys. Read and follow these then thank me later.

Tip 1: Stay Hydrated- The benefit of water cannot be over emphasized. Take at least 2-3 litres of water every day. Also eat fruits and vegetables and drink juices and beverages to keep you hydrated.

Tip 2: Bathe with Lukewarm water- Avoid having hot baths no matter how cold it is. Hot water strips away the skin's natural oil which leaves it ashy and causes itching.

Tip 3: Add a drop of essential oil to your  bath water. It could be coconut oil, almond oil, carrot oil etc. It helps in keeping the skin hydrated.
Personally, I use raw home made coconut oil, I leave the bath glowing and hydrated and I stay this way all day
P.s  Be careful so that you don't spill it, to avoid a slip and fall.

Tip 4: Exfoliate your skin at least 4 times in a week this period. It scrubs off dry and dead skin cells and paves the way for new ones.
I use The Oh Nine Ninety Coffee and Sugar Scrub for facial exfoliation, then for my body I use The Rose Clay Sugar Scrub from Dew Of Hermon.

Tip 5: Moisturize your skin immediately after you bathe preferably with in the bathe while your body is still moist. Pick a hydrating moisturiser and ensure it does not contain any irritants. It's advisable to use products that contain hyaluronic acid, ceramides, glycerin and vitamins.

Tip 6: Apply Sunscreen- Ensure that you don't leave the house without sunscreen. Sunscreen is necessary because it protects the Skin from UV damage while protecting it at the same time.
For the ladies, ensure your foundation you're  contains at least SPF 30, if it doesn't change it and pick another one.

For this season I decided to switch my Clinique Even Better Glow Foundation for the Classic HD Foundation just because it contains SPF.  Expect my Makeup Products Review very soon.

Tip 7:Use natural oils such as coconut oil, almond oil or mint oil in place of chemical moisturisers Or you can add it to the moisturisers.
These oils contain natural sunscreen and help strengthen the Skin and enhance its glow.
You can also use shea butter or avocado butter or balm. They are thick and last longer than other oils.

Tip 8: Don't neglect your lips and palms. Use lip balm at all times or for the ladies you can use transparent gloss.

I use the Sheavocado body whip balm for my lips. It has an oily base and it lasts long after application

Use a moisturizing hand cream and ensure you add it to your purse or handbag or keep it in your car. Just don't go anywhere without one.

That's all for now guys. Have a blessed week, keep glowing and don't forget to Stay Hydrated!
